The Tourism & Disability label

The state label Tourisme & Handicap, supported by Atout France, provides reliable, descriptive and objective information on the accessibility of tourist facilities, taking into account all types of disabilities.

It meets a dual requirement:

  • To guarantee visitors with disabilities clear information on the accessibility of establishments and an experience adapted to their specific needs.
  • Supporting tourism professionals in improving the reception and accessibility of their infrastructure and services.

The certification covers five main categories:

  • Accommodations (hotels, furnished apartments, bed and breakfasts, campsites, residences, group or unusual accommodation…)
  • Catering (cafes, bars, brasseries, restaurants)
  • Places of visit (museums, heritage sites, company visits, theme parks…)
  • Hobbies and activities (leisure parks, outdoor sports, nature outings, educational leisure activities…)
  • Tourist information (tourist offices)

An establishment can be certified for a minimum of two categories of disability:

  • Motor
  • Visual
  • Auditory
  • Mental and cognitive

The label is awarded for a period of 5 years.

Why engage?

In France, nearly 12 million people live with a disability. Worldwide, more than a billion people are affected. These travelers often travel with companions and are particularly loyal to establishments that meet their needs.

Accessibility also benefits a wider public: seniors, families with strollers, people who are temporarily immobilized.

Displaying the Tourism & Disability brand is a strong differentiator and a competitive advantage. It is a guarantee of quality and trust, recognized nationally.

In the context of the accelerated accessibility of public establishments, engaging in certification allows us to anticipate regulatory changes while promoting a proactive and responsible approach.

Today, more than 3,500 establishments are certified in France.

How to obtain the label ?

The main steps:

  • Perform a self-diagnosis on the website ofAtout France (optional).
