Classified among the Most Beautiful Villages of France®, Fourcès, an atypical village in Gers, will delight all your senses!

A picturesque former fortified village, Fourcès immediately captivates with its beauty and serenity. Encircled by the green of the Auzoue, a pretty river teeming with fish, Fourcès unfolds like a living history book.
The circular square occupies the site of the castle mound where the original castle was built, destroyed in the 15th century. People gather here in the shade of the plane trees to celebrate, play pétanque, attend concerts, browse the flea markets, or enjoy the intoxicating scents of the flower market (last weekend of April). Around the square, medieval houses with oak frames stand side by side, alongside more recent 17th and 18th-century dwellings.

The church, dedicated to Saint Lawrence, was built in 1875 on the remains of a 13th-century church. In the Neo-Gothic style with a single nave, it boasts beautiful stained-glass windows, recently restored to their original state. It is open every Sunday from January 1st to March 31st and then from November 1st to December 31st.

The 13th-century Clock Tower, the richly stocked arboretums and the bucolic rampart walks add to the pleasure of staying in this Gascon village of 261 inhabitants, dynamic and proud of a heritage that is valued with ardor.

For groups: the one-hour guided tour (by reservation at the Ténarèze Tourist Office: 05.62.28.00.80), will retrace the history of the village and its architecture: the arcades topped with half-timbered houses, the Clock Tower, the old city gate or even the castle. Many anecdotes will be told to you by our tour guides.

Located on the GR654 of Santiago de Compostela, many hikes are possible around the village.
The visit sheet is available in the Ténarèze reception areas (Condom, Montreal and Larressingle).

Take "La Clé des champs", an artistic installation to discover the "Portes d'orée". At the foot of the water tower, dressed for the occasion, a magical place to discover the landscape at 360°. By a steep path, we arrive there early in the morning to have the privilege of seeing the sun rise there.
To get there, on foot, take the road towards Montreal, for 300 meters, then go up to the left by the grassy path. Continue by the white path to the water tower (follow the yellow markings).
