The Karst Trail of La Romieu & Gazaupouy

Starting from the North Gate, also known as Rocamadour, the karst trail reveals the hidden activity of the underground environment: underground waters, caves, cliffs... almost invisible to novices, and yet so closely linked to the surface landscapes!

A stone's throw from the Way of Santiago de Compostela, the karst of La Romieu hides its secret well under the fields of cereals and the oaks of the Bois de Broustès.

Starting from the magnificent site of La Collégiale in La Romieu, the seven terminals that mark out the route offer stops to observe and understand the hidden mysteries of this karstic massif.

You can explore this trail independently throughout the year. The information provided at the seven markers along the trail will help you better understand the site and its significance. For more information, you can also obtain the specific educational booklet before your visit; it will accompany you throughout the entire route.

The karst trail of La Romieu & Gazaupouy "A karst under cereals and oaks" belongs to a network of educational trails, proposed by the Occitanie Regional Speleology Committee.

Through remarkable points marked on the trails by markers and an accompanying educational booklet, these trails allow you to discover exceptional sites of natural and cultural karst heritage.

The La Romieu & Gazaupouy trail is the fourth trail in the regional network, after that of Aspet in Haute-Garonne, Sorèze in Tarn and St-Pé de Bigorre in the Hautes-Pyrénées.
