When the Counts of Armagnac established their states in Lectoure in the middle of the 14th century, they chose a fortified, central and already prosperous town.

Only a little remains of their castle, the west wing dominating the Gers valley. With a touch of anachronism, in the manner of these powerful lords, stand on the belvedere of the castle with a lively and pugnacious gaze defying the impious battalions of the Counts of Foix-Béarn of which the Armagnacs were once rivals...

We agree that the belvedere is the result of the remarkable restoration work carried out in 2014.
