From the Cistercian abbey to the Musée de France: the story of a remarkable heritage and artistic.
It was in 1151, in this peaceful corner of the Baïse Valley, that monks from the Escaladieu Abbey (Hautes-Pyrénées) chose to found a new community. Admirably preserved, this complex represents an example of Cistercian architecture that exudes purity. The photogenic abbey offers several viewpoints encompassing the abbey church, gardens, and cloister. This exceptional setting has been chosen by the Gers department to house the Simonow private art collection in the former monks' dormitory.
Our top tip for your photos: position yourself facing the gardens, in front of the apse of the church.
