Domaine ArtonThe scale of the ensemble testifies to the power and wealth of its sponsor, Cardinal Arnaud d'Aux de Lescaut. Moreover, wealth is not everything but it clearly contributes to speeding up the work, it took only 6 years to build and complete the site of the collegiate church, from 1312 to 1318. Since the revolution it has taken on the function of a church parish. But none of that before, another church existed for the villagers. The golden rivets screwed into the central square recall its location. Negatively, this means that under the old regime the collegiate complex was only accessible and reserved for the family of d'Aux de Lescaut and the resident college of canons.
