The perched village of Lavardens

This charming village flourishes on a terrace on the eastern slope of a hill. Camped on its highest point, the impressive 12th century castleeand seventeenthe century rises between heaven and earth.

Legend has it that it was rebuilt by Marshal de Roquelaure, a comrade-in-arms of Henri IV, to satisfy his new wife Suzanne de Bassabat.

A beautiful proof of love which dominates the fields with wavy lines. Classified as a historic monument, the castle houses an art center open all year round with a rich program of exhibitions.
