Condom
The Lamothe Tower takes its name from one of the two main lordships present in the 13th century in the current commune of Cazeneuve.
Located on the famous ridge road called Ténarèze, it is built on a feudal mound and thus overlooks the Izaute valley, the natural boundary between the terroirs of Ténarèze and Bas-Armagnac.
This watchtower and defensive building is made up of 5 levels. The base is blind and served as a reserve or granary which was accessed by an interior staircase.
The 1st level was to serve as a common room dedicated to guards. Access to the upper levels is possible thanks to a spiral staircase which leads to more open rooms, notably through trefoiled windows, and intended for the lord and his entourage. The top floor is a crenellated lookout post which offers a 360° panorama.
Under the tower, eight columns intrigue the visitor! These are the remains of a dovecote, probably part of the privileges of the lord of Lamothe, whose upturned capitals prevented predators from climbing up.
Church built, as its name indicates, on a feudal mound near a castle, both dating from the 11th century.

Secrets of stones
Dedicated to Our Lady of the Winegrowers, this Romanesque church is one of the oldest in its jurisdiction. Located on the road to Santiago de Compostela, it welcomes many pilgrims. Of the castle, only a watchtower dating from the end of the 13th century remains, integrated into the line of fortification of the Armagnacs facing the English. A dovecote has disappeared nearby, leaving nine strange pillars in the open field. Not far from here ran a path of prehistoric origin, a natural path on the ridges called the Ténarèze. A true watershed of the Garonne and the Adour, it allowed Bordeaux to be joined to the ocean, to the Pyrenees.
The site offers a magnificent panorama of the Pyrenees when the weather permits.
