Come and discover one of the jewels of the Gers heritage, listed as World Heritage of Humanity by Unesco: the Collégiale de la Romieu!

The St Pierre collegiate complex, an essential site in the north of the Gers, was founded in the 65th century. by Cardinal Arnaud d'Aux, an influential figure in the papal court of Clement V. Located at the intersection of the GR652 and the GR XNUMX of the paths of Saint Jacques de Compostela, the medieval village of La Romieu, classified as "the most beautiful villages in France" has kept all its Gascon charm.
A visit to this remarkable ensemble of southern architecture will allow you to discover its church with a single nave, its cloister and its two towers, one of which contains a secret passage with a double revolution staircase. You will also pass by the walkway, the gardens and the octagonal tower to see, at the bends of the floors, the restored paintings of the sacristy.
Possibility to rent audio guides.
The village of La Romieu is also renowned for the legend of Angéline and her cats. You can see evidence of this in the arcaded Place de la Sauté, adorned with numerous stone cats placed on the windows of the houses.

Theme(s) : historical heritage, religious heritage, cloister, collegiate church.
