Plieux Castle, considered one of the last Gascon castles, was built in 1340 on the site of a castrum or castle mound by the Faudoas family.

It consisted of a rectangular main body flanked by two towers at the corners, each bearing a name: the north-west tower known as the Saint-Mère tower, with a height of 26 m and the south-east tower known as the Saint Clar tower, leveled at the main body at an unknown time.
It will be partly reworked in the Middle Ages then later in the Renaissance, it is at this time that openings were made which will weaken the whole and make the walkway disappear.
The presence of machicolations on three sides of the building testifies to the late construction and final evolution of the Gascon castle, which until then, at least according to the surviving witnesses, was not equipped with such improvements.
Today the current owner has made it an important center for contemporary art exhibitions and cultural meetings.
It is the headquarters of the Pli according to Pli association, which has organized major exhibitions of contemporary art there: Jean-Paul Marcheschi, Eugène Leroy, Jannis Kounellis, Miro, Christian Boltanski, Josef Albers, etc.
It currently houses the “Jean-Paul Marcheschi Fund” and exhibits on three levels a vast collection of works by this artist, born in 1951.
