Village of Puysegur

In Latin Podium Securum or “safe height”: Puysegur bears in its name what defines it. Dominating the Gers, it offers natural protection to the various inhabitants who settled there from the beginning of our era.

The Château de Puységur, property of the great house of Armagnac, passed into the hands of Nicolas de Chestenet, official supplier of red and black cloth used for the clothing of the consuls of Lectoure and the Capitouls of Toulouse. Himself a consul, the thrift dealer ended up being ennobled and bought their fortress from the Armagnacs.
