A picturesque village with houses enclosed within its 13th century fortifications, this is where the Black Prince is said to have stayed when he came to Condomois. The main street leads to a Gothic church and to the partly private 16th century castle.
A must-see walk for artists at heart!

The commune of Saint-Orens-Pouy-Petit was made up of two distinct villages, united in 1841.

Saint-Orens was first founded in the 11th century by the Bishop of Agen who donated it to the Abbey of Condom. The monks built the church and the inhabitants settled around the monastery, thus giving birth to the village.
In the 13th century, the English, who owned the village, had walls built there. The castle as it is visible today was built in the 16th century. In the 19th century, the municipality bought it to install a town hall and a school there.

Pouy-Petit, for its part, was a castelnau belonging to the County of Gaure, with its Gascon-style castle from the 13th century or early 14th century. The current castle was rebuilt, near the old one, during the Restoration.
Located in the heart of the medieval and fortified village of Saint-Orens-Pouy-Petit, the building faces the imposing castle.

About Saint-Orens:
This Saint was implored to cure madness, moody people and the furious. His horn allowed deafness to be cured.
