Museum Overview

ELUSA Capitale Antique is a set of three Gallo-Roman sites to visit: the Villa de Séviac, the Eauze Treasure Museum as well as the Domus de Cieutat and its interpretation center.

THE DOMUS DE CIEUTAT & ITS INTERPRETATION CENTER

The Domus de Cieutat is a Gallo-Roman urban residence. Located in an aristocratic district of the ancient city of Elusa, it covers an area of 2700 m² and includes reception rooms, a thermal area and an advanced heating and water drainage system. Before discovering the archaeological site, an interpretation center allows visitors, thanks to fun and interactive tools, to better understand the rich ancient past of the city of Elusa and to make the link between the three sites.

THE ARCHAEOLOGICAL MUSEUM / THE TREASURE OF EAUZE

The Archaeological Museum/Eauze Treasure exhibits a fabulous Gallo-Roman hoard, unearthed in 1985 in Eauze. Comprising over 28000 coins and some fifty pieces of jewelry and precious objects, it dates from the 3rd century. Its remarkable richness and state of preservation make it a unique discovery. It is one of the most important hoards ever found and displayed in a museum collection in France.

THE VILLA OF SEVIAC

Located at the top of a hill among vineyards and cypresses, Villa de Séviac is a luxurious Gallo-Roman rural residence, which extends over nearly 6500 m². Equipped with private thermal baths (500 m²) and exceptional mosaics (450 m²), it is one of the largest Gallo-Roman villas in France. Visitor information: after major work to highlight and restore the mosaics, the villa will reopen to the public from June 4, 2018.
