Lulu Berlu

Héloïse and Brice, our two favorite sidekicks, are back in action! Well not for long because our duo will have to recompose... We didn't want to tell you about it so quickly, the young prodigy gave in to the repeated calls of a headhunter, leaving the old veteran, diminished, alone. Nothing very reassuring for us, regular readers of this magazine.

Well, let's still enjoy this saving collaboration... so here they are on their way to Marsolan. A small village, whose charm is known beyond many valleys! Picturesque, restored, cute, dynamic, friendly, cultural, fortified, limestone, here is part of the lexical field attached to the village in question. There they have a meeting with Yannick and Candice, at “Lulu Berlu”.

Leaving Héloïse to do the slot, Brice counts his pennies in preparation for a pastry on the way back when the little wooden door opens... It looks like a little roadside sheepfold. A man invites them to come home.

Héloïse stealing priority from Brice follows in the host's footsteps, “probably Yannick” Brice ruminates. A few steps further down, they sit in the middle of walls lined with books.

Yannick probably : You want to drink something ?

Brice : Is it homemade alcohol?

Héloïse responding for two : A coffee with pleasure, lying down for Mr Watson.

Yannick probably : Well, I'm Yannick, with my partner Candice who will come to greet you, we are the two people behind this little sign. And we are truly happy to welcome you! It's almost the beginning for us, we opened last August, after transforming the old place where my father used to operate.

Brice : So I was right!

Heloise (handing coffee to his neighbor): Was your father a wizard?

Yannick definitely : In a way, he had old grimoires yes. A bookseller, he spent his life collecting and selling rare books and others. It was here that he physically welcomed bargain hunters/readers. Nothing to do with today, the objective was quite different, to the point that walking through these rooms was not an easy task. His notoriety was national, the press and television in particular were critical of my father, who was not inclined to media demonstrations. An uncompromising approach, as proof, the books were kept in individual plastic and there was no possibility of extracting it without purchasing it. La Bouquinerie – that was the name in my father’s time – closed eight years ago, in favor of a well-deserved retirement!

Brice Watson (drunk with anger): Ah, retirements, leaving a mark in political history... Emman...

Heloise stopping him in his tracks : This is definitely not the subject Watson! And after the closure of La Bouquinerie, along the way, your project came to fruition?

Yannick confirmed : Quite ! I'm a book seller, I do markets and I make a living from it. Bathed by my ancestor, I took up the torch in a certain way. Then this place, imbued with family history, we wanted to give it new life. We immediately took a different direction, imagined a place to live, where we can have a good coffee and choose a book or maybe not. Some work was necessary to install tables and display cases, just to sit around a coffee, surrounded by books and a very personal decor. Candice has a talent which incidentally is also a vocation, she is an artist and creates compositions in a bohemian statuary style. In this inspiration, you will find here and there, his creations in our space... Let's be clear, we have not opened a shopping center, the objective here is not economic but human. A perspective that guided the layout of the premises as well as our way of doing, welcoming and enlivening this place.

Brice Watson : We can never imagine enough the time allocated to animating a plasticine figurine, to end up with what... a minute of film is ver-ti-gi-ne.

Yannick definitely a good audience : Truthful

Heloise : So everything is there?

Yannick : Oh no, God! There in these two pieces, you only have 5% of our collection.

Brice Watson (unfortunate loser at Mastermind last night): So you must have approximately 600000 books in total, am I wrong?

Yannick : That's….. right….. co.. co..how do you know…?

Brice Watson : Well, this interview was written after the actual meeting, do you know the multiverse?

Heloise : Let's return to our world, to the present. When you were talking about living space, it’s not just about a connected coffee maker, reassure me?

Candice probably : Hello, I'm Candice or half of the adventure! Delighted and see you very soon, duty calls. You see, I'm sorry, it was only an apparition...

Heloise (staring at the big picture): Until today I didn't believe it! Damn… Who would have thought! This is also the principle…

Brice : Sainte-Héloïse-Antoine discovers a little more of the world, it’s beautiful. Let’s find out what you offer besides book sales.

Yannick : We plan one meeting per month, ranging from naturopathy, to the creative workshop, mini-conference, on varied subjects but which are close to our hearts. Serious, demanding speakers for whom we will ask for symbolic participation, guided by an objective of sharing. Our Facebook page and other means of communication are developing to talk about us, the place and upcoming events.

Brice Watson : The communication, the communication, the communication, it’s crucial. Do you know the story of the “Serious Cow” and the “Laughing Cow”? What madness...

Heloise : Well, I think we – Mr Watson at the top of the list – have bothered these people enough. And from now on, congratulations for this remarkable initiative. We know where to come to find a rare book, a favorite, or a good coffee!

Yannick : It should be noted that we opted for a fairly broad panel. By that I mean not just collector's books, there are “pocket” books, beautiful books, photos, youth books, etc. I could be wrong but everyone can relate to them.

Brice Coluche : It's small, it risks getting stuck quickly!

Yannick and Héloïse fooling around, Brice discovered a coin lodged at the bottom of his back pocket (strange), raising the account to €0.80, exactly the amount needed for a late morning croissant...

Brice : Let's go teh, it's getting late, not sure if there are still pastries left!

Cordial greetings, all these beautiful people moved away while the speakers of Lulu Berlu broadcast “La Vie est Douce” by André Minvielle… A slightly crazy jazz ride, from a beautiful Frenchman, offering our intrepid reporters a energizing burst, in the depths of a fantasized hypoglycemia (for Brice)…
