Who is Elzéar Duquette? In LIHED he is a big hourglass, like all our puppets, but in real life he was the Walking King. A man who, at 59, realized that he only had a few grains of sand left and decided to look for life where the current was strongest.
In each of us, always still, always moving, independent of our will, sits an hourglass. We change, he, impassive, fulfills his destiny. The passage of time unites us in an adventure, life, whose outcome will be the same for everyone. We can gain more money, goods, friendships or power, but we cannot gain more time than our hourglass contains... Are we really sure?
The incredible story of Elzéar Duquette (LIHED) is inspired by the story of Elzéar Duquette to tell us that time is what we make of it, and that it runs out if we use it poorly . Launched on a journey on foot which took him around the world in 13 years, pulling his own coffin, in which he slept and kept his few belongings.
Why did he decide to travel while dragging his coffin? A reminder of the end of the journey, the end that makes us all equal.
