With the fantasy that characterizes her, the choreographer-dancer Hélène Iratchet gives voice to an armchair in a gesticulated conference on contemporary dance, at the crossroads of auto-fiction and the spy novel
“In residence in Saint-Étienne, I started by buying armchairs on leboncoin that were big enough to slip into. Then I dissected, delirious with the object until obtaining a form that could be described as choreographic auto-fiction or gesticulated conference on contemporary dance and different current themes.
By literally giving voice to the object (here the armchair, via a voice-over) and by addressing myself directly to the spectators, the piece joyfully articulates moments of discourse on the consumer society, on the choreographic writing, espionage and choreographed moments. For this performance, I chose to speak, to tell stories to break the fourth wall. So I tell different stories about creation and espionage starting from a supposedly personal but totally fictitious experience.
