Turkey by Jean DIEUZAIDE (1955) - Operation “The Depth of Fields (furrow no. 16)” - (Photograph, 21st century)
Discover the exhibition from October 10 to March 22, 2026.
These exceptional photographs taken by Jean Dieuzaide, never shown but bearing the quality, sense of framing and emotion for which he is known, bear witness once again to the originality of this brilliant artist, attached to the Gers.
Alternating, according to artistic encounters, black and white or color, French departments or regions and the rest of the world, the Abbaye de Flaran tirelessly pursues its questioning of the rurality of our planet, through the successive furrows dug by the personal and original works of the photographers invited each year.
In 2021, the Flaran Abbey presented (on the friendly suggestion of his son Michel), the exceptional "large formats" of Jean DIEUZAIDE (1921-2003), including some of the most famous, on the occasion of the anniversary of his birth, one of the rare celebrations dedicated to him in Occitania.
An appointment was then made for the integration of this daring and versatile photographer in the logic of this 16th furrow of the annual operation La Profondeur des Champs, in an equally remarkable context.
It is in fact the journey made throughout Turkey in 1955 by the photographer and his wife, on behalf of Arthaud Publishing, to which you are invited today.
Never shown before but bearing the quality, sense of framing and emotion for which he is known, these works once again bear witness to the originality of this brilliant artist, attached to the Gers region, whose eminent place must be reaffirmed within French Photography.
