Participants of the Ascension Day workshop
Directed by Frédéric Bétous

This program spans the Italian Renaissance, from the polyphonic clarity of Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina to the expressive boldness of Carlo Gesualdo.
Gesualdo—in Aestimatus sum, O vos omnes, and Jerusalem, surge—explores the shadows of the sacred text through breathtaking chromaticism. Around them, Giaches de Wert and Marc'Antonio Ingegneri enrich this journey with dramatic intensity and vibrant fervor. Italian Renaissance vocal and polyphonic music continues to inspire us profoundly with its deep humanity.
