Opera in the drawing room! Founded in 2010 by viola da gamba player Juliette Guignard and organist-harpsichordist Louis-Noël Bestion de Camboulas, the ensemble Les Surprises, named after Rameau, is dedicated to showcasing French Baroque music in all its theatrical and sonic richness. With the Pièces de clavecin en concerts, published in Paris in 1741, they revive a major collection, often considered one of the earliest examples of the keyboard trio. Featuring dances, character pieces, and musical portraits, this program brings opera into the drawing room and reveals a Rameau who is as inventive as he is elegant.
